SHORT FACTS

Developing a flexible manufacturing technology for natural fibre semi-finished products with topological distribution characteristics

Duration:
01/05/2017 - 10/31/2020

Funding Volume:
€ 99,423.90

Funding Body:
Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)

optiformTEX involved the development of a textile technology for novel flat natural fibre semi-finished products made of staple fibres with load-appropriate topological material distribution

This technology is also intended to enable partial functionalisation of such semi-finished products using different high-performance staple fibres (including production residues).

The approach achieves a weight reduction of 30 to 50 % for lightweight moulded parts without compromising the cost efficiency of the resulting products or even improving their profitability through process-integrated manufacturing and assembly.
